There has been some talk as to whether BR should have an into tune, so I’m interested to hear peoples thoughts, firstly on whether you think it necessary and if so, what tune do you think it should be.
My personal opinion is that bands with intro tunes look a bit more professional than those that just wander onto stage, pluck a few quiet notes on their guitars, say good evening to an audience that may or may not be paying attention and then start with their opening number.
I also think the first song has to match in some way, the intro or it may come across a little stupid and there should be no chat from the band after the intro, just straight into the first song.
If you have any thoughts on this, please comment below. Ideally it needs to contain only music, no singing or for the singing to start far enough into the song for it to be faded out by the time the band start. It also needs to be at least one and a half minutes long to give the band time to get on stage and check their instruments.

I am very much in favour of intro music and I share your view and reasons.
I would just add.... for it to work effectively the intro should ideally be combined with good lighting. At the very least it would need the stage to be in blackout during the intro (not always possible in some venues, I know) and then the lights to come on at the start of the first song. I am sure that more sophisticated lighting, both during the intro and after, would further enhance the effect
We need to realise that in order to catch the immediate attention of a typical casual audience, a professional 'impact start' is hugely important.

Couldn't agree more brsg. I've been trying to find the ideal track but have ruled most out after listening to them properly. I think we're likely to stumble across it by accident.... hearing it somewhere and thinking 'that's the one' . It should definitely add something to the show! Prize for the winning entry!

A few suggestions, also a fairly eclectic mix as I'm not sure what genre of music fits the bill best.
Edgar Winter – Frankenstein Dick Dale – Misrlou Neil Zaza – I’m Alright Booker T – Time is Tight (may be a bit to Blues Brothers) Led Zep – Moby Dick Rhythm Heritage – Theme from SWAT Stevie Ray Vaughan – Scuttle Buttin Escala – Palladio Escala – Clubbed to Death
Should be able to find all of these on You Tube if you want to hear any of them

Hi everyone, long time no post.... Definitely a good idea, if only to give Robert BR the toilet cue. 3 choices from me, ideally instrumental which combined a bit of blues/soul/funk. This is not necessarily what we are about but it makes people sit up, take note and get in the groove! ? Green Onions, Booker T and the MG's. youtu.be/_bpS-cOBK6QCissy Strut, The Meters youtu.be/4_iC0MyIykMPick up the Pieces, Average White Band youtu.be/FnH_zwVmiuE

I really like Green Onions by Booker T, but my favourite is Palladio by Escala. Great suggestion Roy! I also think it reaches an optimum at the 1 minute 10 and 1 minute 40/50 mark, which would be perfect! Have a listen... www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBwa8nqtris
